The Stephenville Police Department is looking for individuals who are motivated to help others and be part of something bigger.  Every day our officers and personnel work with members of the community to make Stephenville a great place to live, work and visit.  As part of a team of 40 sworn officers and over 20 non-sworn personnel we work together to help people, fight crime and be a great place to live and work.  Whether you are a just getting interested in law enforcement or looking to continue your career with a community that supports law enforcement, the Stephenville Police Department has a place for you.  

The journey to wear a Stephenville PD badge is challenging but rewarding.  Whether you live around the corner or in another state your journey begins with one click or phone call.  For over 120 years our department has partnered with the community to help make Stephenville the growing and vibrant city it is today.  We are looking for those special individuals to join our team and continue our story of service and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Minimum Educational Requirements:
    • High School graduate or
    • GED
  2. Is 21 years of age (at the completion of the academy if not licensed)
  3. Is a US citizen
  4. Pass a criminal background investigation
  5. Pass oral interviews
  6. Pass a polygraph, psychological, medical and drug screen.  (as part of a conditional job offer)
  7. Possess 20/20 vision, either corrected or uncorrected in each eye. Uncorrected vision cannot exceed 20/100 in each eye, unless vision is corrected by the use of contact lenses which must be worn on duty and/or during all enforcement related activities. Must be free of dichromatic color blindness, night blindness, and any other visual deficiencies or limitations.
  8. Possess uncorrected or corrected hearing within a normal range, and uncorrected hearing cannot exceed a 60 decibel loss.
  9. Be of good moral character.
    • The attributes of a prospective employee that enhance his or her value to the department and the goals of community-oriented policing which include honesty, integrity, truthfulness, obedience to the oath of office and the code of ethics, respect for authority, and respect for the rights of others.
  10. Any other standards set by law or by policy of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

Policing in Stephenville is more than just driving around in a patrol car, it's about interacting with people from all walks of life.  It's not just a job, it's a calling.  Each day is a new adventure from reading to children to helping someone in a mental health crisis.  SPD officers are a part of the community and are vital to our community's success.
