Education

Stephenville is the proud home of Stephenville Independent School District, Tarleton State University, and Ranger College.

Stephenville Independent School District

Stephenville ISD is home to approximately 3,600 students and services over 232 square miles. Preparing its students for an ever-changing world is a challenge that the school district takes very seriously. Dedicated teachers, along with amazing support staff, couple to help build the necessary skills that its students need for tomorrow.

The culture of our community helps direct its school district and provides tremendous support to its faculty, staff, and students. Stephenville is known not only as of the “Cowboy Capital of the World,” but also as the “City of Champions.” Its extra-curricular achievements have resulted in a top-five rating the past two years in the UIL Lone Star Cup standings, and its students and staff exhibit a warm, polite, and caring attitude. Its academics are also second to none with standardized test scores among the State’s best.

There are three elementary schools for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade and an intermediate school for grades 5 and 6. Junior High includes 7th and 8th; High School 9th through 12th grade.

Ranger College

The Erath County Ranger College Center opened in January 2010, serving Stephenville and the surrounding area. It currently offers general education and continuing education courses. A large majority of its offerings are available online as well. Ranger College also offers a Cosmetology Program and a Licensed Vocational Nursing Program at the Stephenville location.

Located at 1835 W. Lingleville Rd., Stephenville, TX 76401. This new location (renovated in 2014) enabled Ranger College Erath County to consolidate all of its programs into one location. The main entrance to the building is used for all general education and continuing education students, while a side entrance enables access to its cosmetology program and a community room available for events.
