The City of Stephenville and Mayor Doug Svien are proud to launch our inaugural Mayor's Youth Council. The program will begin with the 2024-2025 school year, but applications are now open!

Mission: To develop a group of interested youth who will provide their perspective on city issues, assist in fostering a sense of community engagement, educate on city governance and voter engagement. 

 

Benefits:

  • Hear from municipal leaders and learn how municipal government works.
  • Have a positive impact on the Stephenville community
  • Gain and enhance essential leadership skills
  • Letter of Recommendation from the Mayor 
  • Visit the State Capitol in the Spring and meet elected representatives

Qualifications:

  • Must be a resident of the City of Stephenville or Erath County
  • Must be entering 9th through 12th grade
  • Must be enrolled in Public, Private, Home School in Erath County
  • Must be able to commit to attending all MYC meetings; members may not have more than 2 absences
  • Must commit to participating in the minimum required amount of Civic Engagement
