Senior Citizens Center Assistant  - Part-Time

Department: Parks & Leisure

Reports to: Senior Citizen Recreation Coordinator

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary: $10.25
 

Job Summary:

 

The City of Stephenville is seeking a part-time senior citizens assistant. This position works under the general supervision of the Senior Citizen Center Recreation Coordinator. As a Senior Citizens Assistant you will perform a wide variety of tasks in the day to day operations of the Stephenville Senior Citizens Center.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

   Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, marketing, implementing activities and programs.

  • Performing clerical tasks.

  • Receives the public and answers questions; responds to inquiries from employees, citizens, and others and refers, when necessary, to appropriate persons.

  • Prepares the facility for programs and events.

  • Design, plan, create and post graphics and flyers to advertise activities and programs.

  • Provide a welcoming and inviting atmosphere to all residents.

  • Enlist residents’ support and participation with program planning and activities.

Abilities, Experience and Qualifications

  • Must be available to work 20 hours per week and occasional weekends.

  • General knowledge of recreational programs.

  • General knowledge of the social needs of senior citizens.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental staff and the general public.

  • Ability to operate various equipment used in an office environment.

  • Ability to maintain records.

  • Ability to work independently without supervision

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

  • Must have a High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by additional course work in clerical procedures.

  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, and currently have and maintain a satisfactory driving record
