Code Compliance

Click here to report a problem and to track the complaint.

Code Compliance consists of several elements. It not only includes removal of high grass and weeds, but includes regulations on the accumulation of rubbish and brush, parking on a grass surface, junk or abandoned vehicles, and dangerous buildings. The Development Services Services staff works in conjunction with the Code Compliance Officer and other city departments in regulating and enforcing the Health and Sanitation Codes for the city.

The City of Stephenville has implemented a one-time “Notification Program.” The city will notify residents of a violation(s) via standard mail. The recipient of the notice will be given ten days to abate the violation; if the violation is not corrected, regrettably the owner of said property will be billed for the expense of any action taken by the City of Stephenville to correct the violation and /or a citation will be issued for each day the violation occurs after the allotted grace period and this matter will be referred to the City of Stephenville municipal courts for citation processing.  There will be no second notice for a violation.

If a violation is repeated within a 12-month period,  corrective action will be taken by the City of Stephenville without additional notice.  The expense of this action will be charged to the owner of said property and/or or a citation will be issued for each day the violation occurs and it will be referred to the City of Stephenville Municipal Courts for citation processing.
