City Council Approves Water & Sewer Rate Changes

Effective May 8, 2019, the City Council has approved rate changes for water and sewer customers:

All minimum water rates will increase $1.50.  For example, the minimum bill (0 gallons used) for a ¾” meter will increase from $11.00 to $12.50.  Additionally, the per-1,000 gallon fee will increase $0.20 from $4.35 to $4.55 per 1,000 gallons.

The minimum sewer rate will increase $1.50 from $9.50 to $11.00.  The per-1,000 gallon rate will increase $0.20 from $3.70 to $3.90 per-1,000 gallons.

Residential surcharges are undergoing some changes as well.  First tier surcharges (12,000 gallons to 25,000 gallons) has been eliminated.  Meanwhile, tier 2 surcharges (25,000 gallons to 50,000 gallons) and tier 3 (over 50,000 gallons) will be unchanged at $3.00 per-1,000 gallons and $4.00 per-1,000 gallons, respectively.

Finally, non-residential irrigation only accounts (i.e. commercial sprinklers) will be assessed surcharges in May through September.  Tier 1 accounts (over 25,000 gallons to 50,000 gallons) will see a surcharge of $3.00 per-1,000 gallons, while tier 2 accounts (over 50,000 gallons) will see a surcharge of $4.00 per-1,000 gallons.
