Founded in 1899 as John Tarleton College, Tarleton became a part of the Texas A & M University System in 1917 and gained official status as a university in 1973. Tarleton State University provides quality programs of undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional education. The student body includes representatives from 220 counties, 45 states, and 34 foreign countries. Tarleton’s enrollment is excess of 10,000 students. The Tarleton core curriculum provides a solid Liberal Arts foundation for all students. Tarleton offers 67 undergraduate and 22 graduate programs as well as a doctorate program in Education Administration. Stephenville Independent School District has an enrollment of over 3,550 students.
